Whoo hoo Hullaballoo, what a great time we had over in Perth, we danced our socks off that’s for sure. The Perthies made us all feel very welcome from the word go. It was great to catch up with old friends from around Australia and OS as well as making plenty of new ones.
We were over the moon to catch up with our friend Dan who used to attend the Camperdown swing and Kellyville Rock ‘n’ Roll classes, (he was transferred with the Air force to Perth) we are pleased to report that he has kept up his dancing and he really misses all his Sydney dancing friends. Lots of great live bands, hours and hours of DJ’ed music and awesome people to dance with, they even had there own special beer now that’s cool.
All we can say now is bring on SLX!

Andrew Sutton Workshop Sunday 6th May
|
Swingtime Australia are proud to present Andrew Sutton from the USA on the Sunday the 6th of May. This workshop will take your dancing to the next level, it won’t be about lots of new moves that you can’t remember once it’s over, instead it’s jam-packed with all the techniques that will not only boost dancing but your confidence on the floor.
Andrew has taught and performed in venues throughout the U.S. and Europe. Competition highlights include: 2001 ALHC 1st place Cabaret Champion, 2002 2nd place World Lindy Hop Champion and 2003 ALHC 1st place Jill & Jack Champion. For several years, Andrew danced with the Flyin' Lindy Hoppers Dance Team. He brings a fresh approach to creative social dance.
Andrew believes that in order to truly keep dance improving, we have to continue learning and improving at all levels. To make sure that this happens, he focuses his class material on things that advanced dancers are interested in focusing on, but yet it will be taught it in a way that even the beginner can understand and perform correctly. His goal is to make the dance seem as simple as possible for the beginner and yet interesting enough for the advanced dancers to want to continue to learn more.
To Register simply email peta@swingtimeaustralia.com or see one of your teachers in class.
Workshop Schedule Sunday 6th May -
Morning Session 10.30am – 1pm
101 Styles of Connection This class will provide you with some of the most important techniques that Andrew uses in his dancing. All of the other classes during this week will use these techniques in some way or another. Specifically, follows will learn special techniques on how to feel as light as a feather and still completely connected. Leads will learn how to make moves feel great for the follow and how to adjust their lead to work with every follow.
Improvising with a partner Through the use of jazz steps, this class will teach you how to improvise on the social dance floor as well as how to learn new moves much faster than the average dancer. If you feel you are a shy, timid, or conservative dancer, this class will start to break you out of your shell so smoothly you won't even notice it.
Afternoon Session 2pm – 4.30pm
Charleston and Rhythm Variations This class will give you some new ideas on how to make your charleston more interesting by adding both Rhythm and Lead changes in some old and new variations.
Being Creative Andrew's facilitation, not only will you be creating your own moves but you will learn some great techniques to make it easy to create moves that both feel great and look great!
