A big thank you to everyone who helped out at the “flaunt it” last Saturday, the dancers, the hairstylists and the all the people who gave out brochures for us. It was a lot of fun. Lasha and Trudi made it into the “Glebe” newspaper this week showing off their hairstyling skills to the inner west.

We are really looking forward to a great night, the anticipation is really building as everyone is asking each other what are you wearing? Even if you don’t have an amazing outfit to slip on a few flowers in the hair, a lei around your neck or that loud Hawaiian shirt that has been hanging in the cupboard for 10 years will be fine. It is guaranteed to be a fun filled night of swing dancing – a chance to dress up and let loose on the floor.
Dress -think 1940’s, Hawaiian and military. Prizes for best dressed.

Pre Pearl Habour Dinner
Greg Weaver has been organizing a casual and fun pre dance dinner to be held in the back room of the studio from 6pm. Everyone brings some food to share. Wintersun Festival June 2007
One of our favourite weekends, and of course we will be going again this year. If you are planning on attending plan to be there over the long weekend. Lots of Rock ‘n Roll, Rockabilly and Swing to keep you dancing most of your waking hours!
Wintersun 2007 starts on Friday 1st June and ends with the huge Best of Wintersun Concert on Monday 11th June. Wintersun is Australia's leading annual Retro Nostalgia Festival. Featuring over 1000 Hot Rods, Custom and Classic Cars, more than 100 bands and performers, dancing, movies, street parade and competitions.
The festival is held in the border coastal towns of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads on the New South Wales & Queensland border. Many events are free, some are in the streets while others are in the local clubs and shopping centers. http://www.wintersun.org.au

“Dancing with the Flaming Stars” Dance competition $1000 first prize
If you haven’t entered already then head on down this weekend and give it a go. All you need to do is register then turn up and dance. The comp will be run during the band breaks so you need to be there by 8.30pm. This is an open competition and you can dance Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rockabilly or Swing. The music chosen will be a similar style to what the flaming stars play and on Grand final night the dancers will dance to the Band.
The dancers will dance to two songs (CD’s) one song in each band break so that you don’t all get too puffed and it gives you a second chance to impress the Judges. A cash prize of $100 will be given to the winners of each heat. All couple that do not make it into the semi finals can enter again.
This event is open to anyone and everyone, why not give it a go.

I'd like to let you all know about Tasmania's first Lindy Exchange! Devil City Swing is being held predominantly in Hobart over the weekend of 22nd - 24th June 2007. We hope to cram in more social dancing, live jazz/blues/swing bands and smokin' Dj's in to one weekend than you ever thought possible! Our highlight event is the Roaring 40s Ball on the Saturday night (proudly sponsored by Roaring 40s). We are venturing out past the bright lights of our capital city to Copping for a night of devilish delights. The 2007 Australian Hellzapoppin' Prize - 10th August 2007
Jumptown is excited to announce Canberra will be hosting the Australian Hellzapoppin' Prize 2007 on Friday 10th of August 2007 in conjunction with Canberräng -Canberra's Festival of Swing (9th - 12th August 2007). Hellzapoppin' was a 1940s movie which showcased Whitey's Lindy Hoppers dancing the most famous and spectacular Lindy Hop scene ever preserved on film. The dancing was choreographed by Frankie Manning.
