| A few of us are off to Perth for the weekend to attend Hullaballoo the Perth Lindy Exchange. This got us thinking about SLX, so see below for a few details of the exciting events we have planned during 2008. See you next week for an update on our Perth Weekend.
ReelDance Festival - Swing Club Sunday 11th May
The Reeldance Festival is a biannual event that celebrates dance on film. This year they will be celebrating Swing dance on film with a free event for everyone called swing club. This festival will then go on to tour Australia.“Swing Club will be held in the foyer of “Carriageworks” with plenty of room for dancing (They would love to see as many dancers from the swing community as possible). The event will feature John Morrison’s Big Band playing 3 full sets and throughout the evening they will be screening swing dance footage including original Australian clips from the National Film and Sound archives. We are proud to announce that Swingtime have been invited to perform and teach a group lesson.This is an event not to be missed and the best news is that everyone is invited and it’s free. Sunday 11th May 5-8pm

In response to numerous requests, we now hold a Beginners Refresher Rockabilly Dance Workshop just prior to the Intermediate Workshop. You can do this independently of the Intermediate Workshop or you can do this as a warm-up and confidence booster before you join the Intermediate group later in the afternoon.

Intermediate Rockabilly Dance Workshop - Sunday 27th April at 3pm
The workshop will be a 2 hour session which is designed to improve your dancing as well as learning new dance moves. And of course have fun.Remember, if you are more comfortable dancing with your own partner, you are welcome to come as a couple and stay together or come by yourself and join the rotating circle, where you will get a chance to practice with a number of different partners. Are there any ladies out there who are interested in improving their leading and learning some new moves? Here is your chance. This workshop is for dancers who have at least satisfactorily completed our Beginners Workshop or experienced dancers who would like to improve their style or learn more moves and we would not be able to accommodate inexperienced dancers.

Swing at the Roxbury Saturday 3rd May
Our regular twice monthly swing dance night. The Dj’s will keep you on the dance floor all night long with all your favorite Swingin’ tunes. If your new to swing dancing then why not come down and check it out, it’s a great opportunity to see what the world of swing has to offer. Even if you aren’t brave enough to get up on the dance floor, it is still lots of fun watching and socializing.
The Roxbury has a fabulous atmosphere and we always have a great mix of dancers from the most experienced in Sydney to raw beginners. Don’t forget that you can also get great food at the Bistro.
